PCB Chairman briefs national team on T20 World Cup stance

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday met members of the national cricket team, where he took the players into confidence regarding the PCB’s official stance on the ICC T20 World Cup and discussed key developments affecting international cricket.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi briefed the players on issues surrounding the World Cup, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s position on not playing matches in India.

 He described Bangladesh’s stance as principled and said the PCB had extended its support after carefully considering the core values and traditions of the game.

The PCB chairman categorically rejected what he termed the International Cricket Council’s “dual standards,” stressing that Pakistan believes in fairness and equality in global cricket.

“We supported Bangladesh while keeping the golden principles of cricket in mind,” he said, adding that the PCB would fully comply with any decision taken by the Pakistani government on the matter.

Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that politicising cricket serves no one’s interests and urged all stakeholders to adhere strictly to the game’s principles. “Cricket should remain above politics,” he said.

Turning his attention to on-field matters, the PCB chairman extended his best wishes to the national team for the upcoming Pakistan–Australia T20 series. He praised the players’ talent and competitiveness, stating that Pakistani cricketers possess the ability to perform in any conditions.

“Success in any field is achieved through teamwork,” he said, while reminding the players that cricket fans across the country are closely watching the series and rightfully expect strong performances.

The players, in their response, appreciated Mohsin Naqvi’s firm and principled stance and expressed complete solidarity with the PCB’s position.

They reaffirmed their commitment to unity and vowed to deliver their best performances for the country on the field.
