PMA Lahore alerts authorities over dilapidated Ferozepur Road Trade Center

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Sunday called on Punjab authorities to declare the PMA Trade Center on 66 Ferozepur Road a “dangerous building,” warning that its deteriorating condition poses serious risks to public safety.

In an emergency meeting chaired by PMA President Prof Dr Shahid Malik, officials said the multi-storey structure houses mobile shops on the ground floor, offices of various institutions above, and the PMA Lahore office on the second floor.

They highlighted water leakage, falling plaster, rusting steel reinforcements, weak structural integrity, lack of emergency exits, and absent fire safety measures.

The association said repeated notifications to the Lahore Development Authority, the city commissioner, and other relevant authorities over several months had failed to elicit action.

Citing the recent Gul Plaza collapse in Karachi, PMA Lahore demanded an urgent structural inspection, evacuation of the building, and immediate repair work.

PMA Lahore office-bearers stressed the need for a comprehensive public safety policy to prevent potential human casualties.

“The building is a serious threat to the safety of the public and PMA staff,” the association said, urging authorities to act before a major incident occurs.
