Minister for legislating to protect domestic workers rights

Punjab Health Minister Javed Akram has condemned the torture of a teen domestic worker in Islamabad, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Speaking after paying a visit to the victim, he said the body of the girl bore severe torture marks.

The minister stressed the need for legislation to protect the rights of domestic workers and registration of such workers with the police station concerned.

Her head bore knife-inflicting wounds showing if someone has an enmity with the teen, he said, adding that her hands and teeth are broken. He said the culprits would be brought to book at all costs.
