Ishaq Dar, Belarusian FM agree to expand cooperation across key sectors

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Saturday held talks with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the two foreign ministers reviewed the current state of Pakistan-Belarus relations. They discussed ways to further enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Both sides reiterated their resolve to deepen bilateral engagement and agreed to strengthen high-level contacts to further advance cooperation between the two countries.

The ministers also discussed preparations for the 9th Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission, scheduled to be held in Islamabad on August 11-12, 2026, and expressed confidence that the meeting would help broaden economic, trade and technical cooperation.

The meeting took place during the SCO foreign ministers' gathering in Cholpon-Ata, where regional and bilateral issues are being discussed among member states.
