Three-member honey-trap gang, including woman, arrested in Lahore

Lahore police have arrested three suspects, including a woman, during an operation, involved in luring and robbing citizens through online applications.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were running an organised honey-trap gang.

They were arrested in the Ghaziabad area and were identified as Sonia Bibi, Azeem, and Asif.

Investigators said Sonia Bibi allegedly created a fake online profile under the name "Jennifer Lopez" and used various social networking and messaging apps to contact potential victims.

After exchanging phone numbers, she reportedly befriended them and invited them to her residence under the pretext of meeting.

Police said that once the victims arrived, other gang members, who were already present at the house, allegedly assaulted and intimidated them before robbing them of their mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.

According to the spokesperson, the gang used the same method to rob a citizen on the night of July 21.

Taking notice of the incident, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered the immediate arrest of those involved.

Using modern technology and intelligence-led investigations, police traced and apprehended the three suspects.

Initial investigations revealed that the gang had allegedly targeted and robbed more than 20 citizens through similar honey-trap schemes.

A case has been registered against the arrested suspects, who have been handed over to the investigation wing for further interrogation.

Police said raids are continuing to arrest the remaining absconding members of the gang.
