Pakistan records another 148 Covid-19 deaths

Pakistan witnessed another 148 coronavirus-related deaths during the past 24 hours (Wednesday) after which the death toll in the country climbed to 3,903.

At the same time, 3,003 patients are currently in critical condition and being treated at different hospitals across the country.

The latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Thursday morning show most of these latest deaths were recorded in Punjab where another 84 people died of the virus, raising the overall number to 1,602 in the province.

Similarly, the number of deaths in Sindh reached 1,161 with the addition of 37 on Wednesday. The figures for other regions are: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 869, Islamabad 115, Balochistan 108, Azad Kashmir 25 and Gilgit-Baltistan 23.

On the other hand, 4,044 people tested positive for the coronavirus during the same period. It means a total of 192,970 cases have so far been officially reported in the country.

Most of these cases are recorded in Sindh where the number of coronavirus patients have climbed to 74,070. It is followed by Punjab with 71,191 reported infected people.

The region-wise details of the coronavirus cases for other provinces/administrative units are: 23,887 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,710 in Islamabad, 9,817 in Balochistan, 1,365 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 930 in Azad Kashmir.

As far as the active cases in the country is concerned, there number currently stands at 107,760. The remaining cases are closed as 81,307 people fully recovered from the infection but 3,903 didn’t and died of the virus.
