Supreme Court orders reduction in LLB programme from five to four years

The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered a reduction in the duration of the LLB programme from five years to four years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the legal education reforms case, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked that steps should be taken to improve the standards of law colleges in the country.

A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the case.

The judge further said that if the SM Law College was not producing the desired results, improvements should be made in it rather than closing it. “The college was established prior to the creation of Pakistan,” he added. 

Later, the court adjourned the case’s hearing for an indefinite time period.
