Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 set to debut with hearing health monitoring
Samsung’s next-generation smartwatch could bring advanced wellness features, improved battery life, and a refined design when it launches later this year.
Samsung is reportedly preparing to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 in July 2026, introducing a host of upgrades aimed at improving health tracking, performance, and user experience. The smartwatch is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and serve as the company’s latest flagship wearable.
Familiar Design with Premium Durability
The Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to retain the design language of its predecessor, featuring a circular display housed within a squircle-shaped Armor Aluminum 2 case. Reports suggest the smartwatch will offer IP68 dust and water resistance, 50-meter water protection, and MIL-STD-810H durability certification.
Samsung is likely to offer the device in two sizes, featuring 1.34-inch and 1.47-inch Super AMOLED displays with resolutions of 438×438 and 480×480 pixels, respectively. The screens could deliver up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, a 60Hz refresh rate, and Sapphire Crystal protection.
Color options may include Cream and Graphite for the 40mm model, while the larger 44mm version is expected to arrive in Graphite and Silver.
New Focus on Hearing Health
One of the most notable rumored additions is a Hearing Health feature that could make the Galaxy Watch 9 the first smartwatch in Samsung’s lineup to monitor ambient noise exposure and earbud volume levels.
The feature is designed to alert users when sound levels become potentially harmful, helping reduce the risk of long-term hearing damage. Alongside this, the watch is expected to include an extensive suite of sensors, including heart-rate monitoring, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), dual-band GPS, altimeter, barometer, compass, gyroscope, and accelerometer.
Powered by Exynos W1000 Chip
Under the hood, the smartwatch is expected to feature Samsung’s Exynos W1000 processor, built on a 3nm manufacturing process. The chip includes a five-core CPU and Mali-G68 GPU, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Connectivity options are expected to include LTE variants, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 6.0, and support for multiple satellite navigation systems, including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou.
Improved Software and Battery Life
The Galaxy Watch 9 is likely to ship with Wear OS 7-based One UI 9 Watch, bringing redesigned watch faces, upgraded applications, and improvements to Samsung’s Now Bar interface.
Battery capacities are rumored to increase slightly, with the 40mm model expected to feature a 382mAh battery and the 44mm variant a 435mAh battery. Both models are expected to support up to 10W wireless charging.
Samsung is also expected to provide four major Wear OS updates and security support for up to five years.
Expected Launch and Pricing
Industry reports suggest Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 on July 22, 2026, with pre-orders opening the same day in selected markets. The smartwatch is expected to reach store shelves in August.
Pricing is rumored to start at around $350 for the 40mm Wi-Fi version, while the LTE model could be priced at approximately $380.
