Four more power distribution companies apply for electricity prices hike

Indeed bad news for power consumers as four more power distribution companies of the country on Monday submitted their applications to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for an increase in the electricity tariff to generate Rs1,845 billion in revenue, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The applications were filed by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO).

LESCO filed the application to meet the financial needs amounting to over Rs852 billion; FESCO over Rs501 billion; IESCO over Rs400 billion, and HESCO over Rs41 billion.

Hitherto, six companies had requested for a hike in the power tariff to generate Rs967 billion in revenue.

The NEPRA will hear these applications on April 2 and April 3.
