Federal Board postpones matric exams in four Gulf countries amid tensions

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has postponed matriculation examinations in four countries, including Iran, citing security concerns and the prevailing regional situation, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to an official notification, the decision applies to examination centres in Iran, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The board said the move was taken to ensure the safety of students amid ongoing uncertainties in the region.

Officials clarified that examinations at all other overseas centres would continue as per the previously announced schedule, with no changes for candidates appearing outside the affected countries.

The board has also suspended the issuance of roll number slips for institutions in the four countries where examinations have been postponed. However, it has offered affected students the option to appear for their exams in Pakistan or in a nearby country, subject to feasibility.

Authorities further stated that if logistical challenges arise at any overseas examination centre, alternative arrangements would be made to facilitate students and ensure continuity of the examination process.

The Federal Board said the situation would be reviewed after 15 days, following which a new schedule for the postponed examinations would be announced based on the prevailing security conditions.

It added that if circumstances return to normal, the remaining papers would be conducted according to the original timetable, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining academic continuity while prioritising student safety.
