Punjab Finance Dept rejects vehicle purchases, hiring plans at PIFTAC
The Punjab Finance Department has raised serious objections over expenditures incurred by the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre, placing its financial management under scrutiny, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to official sources, the department rejected proposals for the purchase of new vehicles, including a Fortuner, and directed that existing vehicles be handed over to the motor pool instead.
The move is part of broader efforts to enforce financial discipline and curb unnecessary spending.
The finance department also expressed concern over plans to recruit additional staff, instructing authorities to fill vacant positions through attachments rather than fresh hiring.
Sources further revealed that proposals for enhanced allowances, including a suggested monthly incentive of Rs100,000, were turned down.
Additionally, it was decided that any honorarium payments should be made strictly in accordance with the Financial Powers Rules 2016.
Officials emphasised the need to maintain fiscal discipline and ensure that all expenditures remain within prescribed limits.
