Balochistan ex-finance adviser, secy jailed in Rs2.24b fraud case

Pronouncing a verdict reserved in a mega corruption case, an accountability court (AC) in Quetta on Tuesday handed down penalties to a former adviser on finance and former secretary finance while acquitted the other two in the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Earlier, Contractor Sohail Majeed Shah had been released following a plea-bargain struck with the National Accountability Bureau while former local government secretaries Faisal Jamal and Abdul Basit were acquitted in the case on Tuesday.

The court sentenced former adviser Mir Khalid Khan Langov to 26-month imprisonment while former secretary finance Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani to 10 years behind bars besides confiscation of his property.
Raisani was arrested on May 6, 2016 when cash and jewellery worth Rs640 million were seized from his house.
A reference was filed against the suspects in 2016 for their involvement in Rs2.24 billion fraud.
