PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has ruled out the making of any alliance, saying the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is still the same, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media after attending a hearing in Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, Maryam Nawaz fully endorsed PML-N leader Khaqan Abbasi’s point of view regarding his objection to the inclusion of PPP into the PDM without giving a pretty good reason as why it had ditched the PML-N and other opposition parties on the issue of Senate elections.

She said Abbasi was absolutely right and the PML-N stance was not different from that of Abbasi’s.

To a question, Maryam said no new alliance was in the making as PDM was still the same and PML-N position regarding its demand from the PPP to clear its position on Senate election was the same.

Replying to a question as why she was not invited to the PDM dinner, hosted by her uncle Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, Maryam said Shehbaz threw a dinner party in honour of parliamentary leaders in his capacity as Opposition leader in the National Assembly. She said since she was not a parliamentarian, hence no invitation to the dinner. She said if Shehbaz was present at some place, there was no need of anybody else to be present.

She rebuked the media persons for posing such questions, asking them to stop raising issues that were in fact non-issues. She chided them that media was saying such things for the last 40 years.

Maryam said that they had the magical number in Punjab Assembly necessary to topple CM Usman Buzdar’s government in the province.

She criticized the government for rising inflation and poverty in the country. She said the PTI government had destroyed the economy and made the lives of people miserable.

She hit hard the PTI government for fidgeting with the economic indicators only to show a false growth rate. She lamented that poverty was on the rise while the government was toying with the numbers.

Replying to a question regarding Ch Nisar Ahmed Khan’s possible rejoining of PML-N after his swearing in, Maryam said Ch Nisar was free to make his own decisions, adding that PML-N had nothing to do with Ch Nisar

To a question that what would be her opinion if Ch Nisar’s name would be selected for the chief ministership, she retorted she was not aware of such machinations. She asked the journalists to put this question to those who were involved in such kinds of intrigues.

Maryam and her husband Capt ® Safdar attended the hearing but their lawyer Amjad Pervez could not make it to the court.

From NAB, Jehanzeb Bharwana and Sardar Muzaffar attended the hearing.

During the hearing, Justice Amir Farooq asked PML-N counsel Azam Nazir Tarrar why he was sitting on the rear seat. Then he asked him to come down to the rostrum.

Justice Amir asked who would be the pleader in Nawaz Sharif case?

The justice said the court could either adjourn the hearing in the event of absence of pleader or it could set aside the appeal.

The NAB counsel Bharwana pleaded to the court to reject the appeals on the grounds of absence of any pleader for Nawaz Sharif.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks saying the next hearing will be on June 9.
