Bill moved in PA for making local languages as part of curriculum 

A bill has been moved in Punjab Assembly seeking legislation for making local languages as a compulsory part of the national curriculum, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

PML-N member of Punjab Assembly Amjad Ali Javed pleaded that Punjabi, Seraiki and other local languages should be taught in school. 

He said the mother tongue should be taught as a compulsory subject in all primary-level public and private schools, as well as in seminaries. 

He said after the legislation the government will prepare textbooks in the mother tongue for each district and distribute among the students free of cost. The legislation is aimed at connecting the new generation with their culture and prevent linguistic tension. 

The Speaker of the Assembly said the bill has been referred to the relevant committee of the Punjab Assembly, and the committee will present its report within two months.
