Pakistani runners shine at Cape Town Marathon 2026 with historic achievement

Pakistani runners delivered an impressive performance at the Cape Town Marathon 2026, with Karachi’s Faisal Shafee and British-Pakistani runner Huma Rehman achieving a landmark milestone for the country, 24NewsHD TV reported. 

After successfully completing the Cape Town Marathon, both runners provisionally secured their eighth World Marathon Star, marking a significant achievement on the international marathon circuit.

Held under the scenic backdrop of Table Mountain, the race attracted more than 27,000 runners from around the world.

For Pakistan’s running community, however, the standout moment came through the performances of Faisal Shafee and Huma Rehman.

Faisal Shafee, who is based in Karachi, completed the 42.195-kilometre race in 3 hours, 35 minutes and 37 seconds.

His performance made him the first Pakistani residing in Pakistan to complete eight World Marathon Stars, according to organisers and running community officials.
