Ali Tareen parts ways with Multan Sultans, says principles come first

Ali Tareen has announced his decision to step away from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

In a heartfelt social media message, he told supporters that he could not continue with the franchise if it meant compromising his principles.

“If staying means compromising on my principles, then I have only one choice: goodbye,” he said.

Tareen described being part of Multan Sultans as the greatest honor of his life.

“I would prefer to lose this team standing tall rather than run it on my knees,” he added.

He expressed a deep emotional connection to the team and the region it represents.

 “I have immense love for southern Punjab’s representation, something my late uncle Alamgir Tareen was always proud of,” he said, emphasizing that Multan Sultans hold far more meaning than numbers, statistics, or business considerations.

Despite facing financial losses, Tareen said he never considered abandoning the franchise.

“Even with financial losses, I never thought of leaving this team,” he remarked.

He concluded by pledging full support to whoever takes over the franchise in the future, saying: “Whoever assumes control of this team now will always have my support, because Multan Sultans belongs more to its fans and to southern Punjab than to any owner.”
