SHC rejects plea seeking halt to e-challans

The Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected a petition seeking a stay on e-challans in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing on Tuesday, the court also ordered Deputy Inspector-General (Traffic) to appear in the court on December 11, 2025, and adjourned the hearing.

Lawyer Munsif Jan, who is representing the petitioner, said that the amount of fine in Lahore is different compared to Karachi.

The lawyer further argued that Karachi is being discriminated. On the occasion, the Court asked the lawyer not to compare Karachi with other cities.

The lawyer said that he is representing the bus owners in court. He went on to say that we are barred from picking our passengers.

The Court advised the lawyer to stop their buses at the bus stands. Lawyer Munsif Jan said that there is no bus stand available in the city.

Justice Adnan Iqbal Khan said that we are also living in this city, and everyone is aware of it.

The Court said, “We will hear the case after receiving the replies from all the relevant parties.”

Sindh Chief Secretary, IG Sindh, DIG Traffic, NADRA, Excise, and other departments were made respondents in the case.

The petitioner said, “Harassing the people by saying that CNIC will be blocked under the guise of a challan is a complete violation of human rights. The petitioner said that two laws are unacceptable in the country.

The petitioner stated that why amount of fine is Rs200 in Lahore and Rs5000 in Karachi.

In his petition, the petitioner stated, “We are unable to explain the current condition of roads, traffic rules, and facilities being provided to citizens of Karachi”.

The petition is filed by the Central Muslim League, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Bus Owners Association.
