Afghan refugees’ evacuation for resettlement in UK starts from tomorrow

The Afghan refugees living in Pakistan will start leaving for Britain from October 26 (tomorrow) through chartered flights, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the evacuation of Afghan refugees for their resettlement in Britain will be carried out through 12 chartered flights.

“As many as 2,000 Afghan refugees will be flown to Britain in 12 chartered flights. The operation of chartered flights will continue till December 2023. One flight will depart for Britain every week,” the CAA said.

“On October 26, the first flight carrying 200 Afghan refugees will depart for the United Kingdom (UK) from Islamabad,” it stated.

“Special arrangements are being made at Islamabad Airport. The landing and take-off arrangements for the flights were made in consultation with the British authorities,” it added.

It is to be noted here that a meeting between the British High Commission and the CAA officials was held in Islamabad yesterday regarding the resettlement of Afghan refugees.
