Pakistan hockey team vice-captain Imad Shakeel Butt and player Mubasher Ali sent their resignations to the hockey federation due to the bleak outlook of financial security for players, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Two important players of the national hockey team resigned from the team due to financial problems.
Imad Shakeel Butt sent his resignation as a member of the Pakistan Hockey Team to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
He said it was an honor to be a part of the national hockey team since 2013 and he was grateful for the opportunity to learn a lot from his senior players and coaches. Imad Shakeel Butt represented Pakistan in 145 matches in ten years.
“Unfortunately, I am resigning from the Pakistan Hockey Team immediately,” the resignation text reads. Imad Butt said: “This is not an easy decision for me, I had to take a step due to a family situation in unchanging circumstances. I now have to decide my future plans and priorities.”
Mubasher Ali in his resignation letter said that it was an honor to play for the national team since 2017 but he was resigning from the national hockey team with immediate effect. He said that he has to look toward his family’s future. “We need financial security, which is not possible in the current situation,” he added.
