Edible oil sector playing vital role for strengthening economy: Minister

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Friday inaugurated the newly established Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) House in Islamabad by unveiling the plaque, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Addressing the participants, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry praised the edible oil sector's contribution to the national economy.

He said that government will build an automotive processing zone on an area of 150 acres at Port Qasim and a Garments City will also be constructed covering an area of 250 acres.

He said that all the outstanding issues of Port Qasim land are resolved amicably. He said that all those investors who will participate in the project will be allotted land.

The establishment of a dedicated PVMA House in the capital marks a significant milestone for the industrial sector.

He said that the government recognizes the vital role manufacturers play in stabilizing the economy, and we remain fully committed to facilitating trade bodies and resolving their operational bottlenecks to ensure uninterrupted supply chains across Pakistan.

Sheikh Umar Rehan, Chairman of the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association organized the grand inauguration ceremony.

The event witnessed a strong gathering of prominent trade leaders, including Karim Aziz Malik, Chairman and Incharge of the FPCCI Capital Office; Sheikh Abdul Razzaq, Patron-in-Chief of PVMA; Iftikhar Khan, Advisor to the FPCCI President; along with PVMA members Arham Ikram, Faad Waheed, Shehbaz Majeed, and various other industry representatives and officials from across the country.

Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, termed the establishment of the PVMA House in Islamabad a profoundly positive development for the industry's progression.

Highlighting the sector's economic significance, he declared the edible oil industry as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. He emphasized that addressing the industry’s challenges promptly is indispensable for national economic stability.

Sheikh Umar Rehan, Chairman PVMA, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the collective vision behind the new secretariat. Opening our central office in Islamabad brings the industry closer to policy-making.
