A man shot his three children dead over a domestic row in the Shahabpura neighbourhood of Sialkot on Sunday.
According to the initial reports, Muhammad Ahmad, also known as Nanha, took this extreme step after a row with his wife in the Kacha Shahabpura locality of Sialkot, the city known the world over for its sports goods and surgical instruments.
Ahmad fled after shooting his two sons and a daughter before the police arrived at the crime scene.
This is the second gruesome incident to be reported in Sialkot within a week.
Earlier this week, Sialkot police arrested a man suspected of murdering his friend and his family after inviting them over to his place.
Victim Saeed was a resident of Lahore and had visited Sialkot’s Daska town with his wife and two children on the invitation of his long-time friend Zafar. Police said Zafar and Saeed became friends in Lahore where Saeed used to run a hotel. Some time ago, Zafar was forced by his neighbours to leave and he moved to Daska.
The police took Saeed and his wife’s bodies for a post-mortem examination, but they were searching for the children’s bodies. The suspect reportedly threw their bodies in a stream.
The children were identified as six-year-old Abdur Rahim and 11-year-old Ahmed. Saeed has two more children Usman and Fatima, who were safe in Lahore since they did not accompany their parents and siblings to Sialkot.
The police have registered a case against Zafar and are investigating him.
