JUI's Rashid Soomro threatens to shut down Port Qasim, Kedi Bandar
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Rashid Mahmood Soomro said on Saturday that his party would shut down Port Qasim on May 5 and Keti Bandar on May 6 if the government fails to issue a notification on the new canals issue.
Soomro said he was being told that he delivers an emotional speech which is tantamount to rebellion. He said the one who fights for the poor and the peasants and demands due share in islands and natural resources like minerals is not a traitor, but a patriot. He said that Pakistan, for him, is not just one province and he wants to see Pakistan stronger.
He said that mineral resources in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are being plundered and Pakistan was being weakened. He asked to rulers to withdraw their decisions and pay attention to the Indus River. He said that Indus River is for Sindh, not Punjab. He said that Sindh was being destroyed just to irrigate the lands of some powerful people.
