Hajj preparations gain momentum as 20,000 pilgrims arrive in Madinah

Pilgrims from Pakistan and across the world continue to arrive in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj, with more than 20,000 worshippers having reached Madinah so far on multiple flights, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

According to Saudi media reports, the first groups of pilgrims arriving in Madinah have already departed for Makkah to perform Umrah and prepare for the main Hajj rituals.

The Day of Arafat,  the central rite of Hajj, is expected to fall on May 26, 2026, a Tuesday, subject to moon sighting.

Saudi authorities have forecast hot weather conditions during the Hajj period, with temperatures likely to range between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.

Medical experts have urged pilgrims to strictly follow safety guidelines, including staying in shaded areas, using umbrellas, and keeping spray bottles for hydration.

As part of precautionary measures, pilgrims have also been advised to receive vaccinations against meningitis, influenza, and polio before undertaking the journey.
