KPT announces 25% to 50% reduction in storage charges at terminals

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry's big move for exporters as Karachi Port Trust (KPT) announced a 25 to 50 percent reduction in storage charges at terminals, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to given relief, exporters will get special concessions on delayed shipments to Gulf countries.
Relief will also be applied to container cargo stuck at ports.
In this regard, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said exports are being supported by reducing financial pressure.
He said steps are underway to eliminate logistics problems and improve cargo clearance. 
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said 50 percent storage charges were waived on KGTL from March 1 to 20, while 50 percent discount will be given to KICT from March 1 to 10 and 25 percent reduction will be applied to SAPT from March 11 to 31.
The efforts of Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed are commendable, the minister for maritime affairs said.
He said the port system needs to be aligned with trade requirements.
