Lahore police exposes fake robbery drama, three arrested

A reported robbery involving a restaurant rider in Lahore’s Sundar area has turned out to be a staged drama, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

According to a spokesperson for the DIG (Operations) Lahore, the accused had contacted emergency helpline 15, claiming that armed men had snatched Rs346,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and a wallet at gunpoint.

However, investigators later found no evidence supporting the robbery claim.

The incident was declared fabricated after initial inquiry and verification of facts.

The spokesperson said the rider, identified as Ehsan, was assigned to deposit company cash from Bahria Town to a bank branch when he allegedly devised the plan to misappropriate the money.

To cover up the alleged embezzlement, he staged a fake robbery with the help of his associates.

Police arrested Ehsan along with two accomplices, identified as Ahmed Ijaz and Hasnain.

An FIR has been registered, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The police also reminded the public that making false emergency calls to helpline 15 is a criminal offence and urged citizens to use the service strictly for genuine emergencies.
