Thousands of goods vehicles on their way to the rest parts of Pakistan have been stuck on the National Highway due to floods, reported 24 News HD TV Channel Friday.
It is feared that stoppage of the delivery of domestic goods from Karachi to the other cities would bring a new wave of price-hike for the people who are already feeling it difficult to keep their bodies and souls together.
Rana Tariq, a leader of goods transporters, said that 4,000 to 4,500,000 cargo vehicles used to be loaded from Karachi every day, but due to the flood, the delivery of goods in the country has stopped. Now only 200 to 300 vehicles are being loaded.
He said that after the recent rains and floods, thousands of vehicles leaving Karachi are stuck on the National Highway. We appeal to the government to help us. If help is not provided to the vehicles stuck on the National Highway soon, the delivery of goods across the country will be stopped and the exports will also be severely damaged, he added.
