The Balochistan government has launched a tree plantation campaign under the “Green Vision” initiative of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, aiming to transform the province’s barren mountains into lush green areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In the first phase of the campaign, 4,000 saplings were planted on mountain slopes, supported by the installation of water tanks, pipelines, and a drip irrigation system to ensure their survival.
In the second phase, from July 15 to August 15, over eight thousand saplings were planted on Sleeping Beauty Mountain.
In the upcoming phase, fruit-bearing trees will be planted on 49 acres of Hanna West Mountain through a public-private partnership.
The provincial government said the project is part of its long-term strategy to combat climate change, enhance biodiversity, and promote a greener environment across Balochistan.
A latest and start-of-the-art boring system equipped with 78,000 feet of pipeline, 82,000 feet of drip irrigation, 45,000-litre tanks, and a solar system providing water to the saplings.
