India violates IWT by not informing water commissioner about floods

India violated the Indus Waters Treaty by not informing the water commissioner about the release of water into the rivers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to diplomatic sources, instead of informing the Indus Waters Commissioner about the release of water into the rivers, India contacted diplomatic channels.

India tried to justify its unilateral and illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by contacting diplomatic channels.

India was supposed to use the Indus Waters Commission channel for information under the Indus Waters Treaty.

The Indian High Commission has contacted the Pakistan Foreign Office three times in the last 36 hours.
