Continuous overnight rain in Lahore turned tragic on Tuesday when the roof of a mud-structured house collapsed, leaving two people dead and another critically injured.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the incident occurred in the village of Khera Pul on Minhala Road.

Rescue officials said the roof had been constructed with mud and TR guard, making it vulnerable to heavy downpours.

The deceased were identified as Aftab, 18, and Rani Jan, while Sharjeel Jan, 35, sustained critical injuries.

Rescue teams managed to retrieve the bodies from the rubble and shifted them to a local hospital’s mortuary.

The injured victim was rushed to Ghurki Hospital, Lahore, for treatment.

The downpour also disrupted the power supply, with more than 50 feeders of LESCO tripping, plunging multiple localities into darkness.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) chief assured that teams were working around the clock to restore electricity while advising citizens to stay away from electric lines during rainfall.
