A growing number of Pakistani celebrities are speaking out against violence targeting women and children following the tragic death of five-year-old Ayat Noor in Haripur. Mariyam Nafees, Noor Bukhari, Sabeena Farooq and Ayesha Omar have expressed grief and frustration, calling for stronger action and accountability to prevent such devastating cases from happening again.
Against this backdrop, Mariyam Nafees shared an emotional video questioning why horrific cases involving women and children repeatedly become social-media hashtags without leading to lasting action. Referring to Ayat Noor and several other reported cases, she became visibly emotional and questioned whether enough was being done to stop such crimes.
Her message reflected both grief and frustration. By recalling the cases of different victims, Mariyam drew attention to what she described as a disturbing pattern of violence against women and children. Her central question was simple: how many more lives must be lost before serious action is taken? Her comments came as Ayat’s case triggered fresh public outrage.
Mariyam was not the only celebrity to speak out. Former actress Noor Bukhari also shared a strongly worded message questioning where the government was and calling for severe punishment for those responsible for crimes against children. She urged authorities to take meaningful action so that girls could feel safer.
Sabeena Farooq expressed similar anger and distress, saying that another child-related tragedy seems to emerge every day. She called on people to raise their voices and demand justice for victims and their families, while describing the situation as increasingly frightening.

Ayat Noor went missing from Haripur on August 10, 2026, after leaving her home to play, according to police. After a search lasting around two weeks, her body was recovered from a well near University Road on August 24. Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the case, while the investigation into the alleged abduction, sexual assault and killing remains ongoing.
Police said three suspects were initially detained and allegedly confessed before a magistrate to abducting and sexually assaulting the child. A fourth suspect was later arrested as investigators continued working to establish what happened to Ayat.
The tragedy has devastated the local community and triggered protests demanding justice. Thousands of people attended Ayat’s funeral in Haripur, reflecting the widespread grief and anger following her death.
