‘They were supposed to be safest’: Rajab Butt and Mohammed Ahmed mourn nursery fire victims
Veteran Pakistani actor Syed Mohammed Ahmed and popular YouTuber Rajab Butt has been raising serious concerns over negligence, accountability and the repeated loss of innocent lives.
Taking to their respective Instagram accounts, both public figures shared emotional messages following the devastating tragedy, urging people not to allow the incident to fade from public memory.
Syed Mohammed Ahmed shared a video in which he appeared visibly distressed and furious over the deaths of the infants. Reflecting on similar tragedies involving children, the veteran actor questioned why those responsible often escape punishment.
“Fifteen children ` and before them, countless others. We hear such news every day, especially about children. We will forget these 15 children too, just as we forgot the children before them,” he said emotionally.
The actor questioned why grieving mothers are repeatedly left without answers and why meaningful accountability remains absent after such devastating incidents.
“For God’s sake, open your eyes. Someone must be held accountable and someone must be punished. Just think about what those children went through,” he urged.
Syed Mohammed Ahmed further expressed concern that those responsible could eventually escape consequences through powerful connections, legal manoeuvring or a lack of proper investigation. He questioned whether society would once again forgive and forget those whose negligence may have contributed to the tragedy.
“Why don’t you wake up? Why are such people not punished?” he asked, expressing deep frustration over what he described as a long-standing culture of impunity.
Meanwhile, Rajab Butt also shared his grief over the devastating loss, posting a heartbreaking message for the families of the victims.
“15 newborn babies. This is just heartbreaking. They came into this world only to lose their lives in a place where they were supposed to be safest. May Allah give their parents the strength to bear a loss no parent should ever have to face,” he wrote.
