Female polio workers in Peshawar have levelled allegations of harassment against the senior officers of the department, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

They said the senior officials asked for ‘immoral favours’ and threatened them with dire consequences in case of non-compliance. 

The female polio workers said they would boycott the anti-polio campaign in case the authorities did not take notice of this harassment.

The TV channel reported that the female polio workers alleged that their officers made videos while they are on duty and then blackmailed them. “Many polio workers are in mental stress after this immoral behaviour,” the polio workers said.

Polio workers also alleged that the top officials were not listening to their complaints and many officials have terminated female polio workers from their jobs instead.

“The polio workers are being harassed under the patronage of officers in the CTC,” the TV channel reported, quoting polio workers.

The polio workers appealed to the Health Minister, Department of Health, Anti-Polio Agency EOC and higher authorities to take action otherwise all anti-polio staffers will boycott the polio campaign, the TV channel reported.
