PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said Muhammad Ali Durrani wasn’t the first one to convey a message about initiating dialogue as different sources like government ministers had been doing the same in recent weeks.
There won’t be any talks with or NRO for the bogus government, she made it clear a day after a similar statement yesterday by her and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Rubbishing the reports and the PTI claims about differences in the PDM ranks, she said there was complete consensus on basic points [including no talks or NRO] and everyone believed that the fake government would have to go.
Nawaz, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and all other component parties of PDM were clear on the issue, Maryam told reporters before leaving for Sukkur to attend the December 27 (Sunday) rally organised by the PPP on the 12th death anniversary of former premier Benazir Bhutto who was martyred in Rawalpindi in 2008.
When asked about the reports that the PML-N lawmakers are not ready to tender their resignations, she firmly refuted such claims and revealed that she had already received resignations from 159 Punjab Assembly members out of a total of 160 as well as 95 percent of the MNAs.
The deadline is December 31, she reminded the reporter and said the only Punjab MPA unable to send her resignation so far was due to some personal reasons.
Everyone knew that the PTI had no future, she said, adding that how a party which could not win the 2018 general elections would be victorious in 2023, she said, answering a question. The PTI government would have to leave the office no matter the Senate elections were held earlier or late or through secret ballot or show of hands.
“Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz had given the Charter of Democracy (CoD) to the nation. Bilawal [Bhutto Zardari] and I will carry the Charter of Democracy forward,” Maryam said.
Replying to a question, she said one could understand how the things were being managed, when the family members were not allowed to meet PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif but all the restrictions had been opened for others [Durrani] for sending messages.
The PML-N leader noted that Shehbaz was loyal to and standing by Nawaz like a rock. If that wasn’t the case then he, not Imran Khan, would have been the prime minister, she remarked.
“People know everything,” Maryam and mentioned that the attempt to divide the JUI-F had backfired. Suddenly, unknown people are promoted in opposition parties and even given unlimited time by media, she remarked.
When asked about the by-elections after the planned resignations from assemblies, she said an overwhelming majority was against doing so; however, the PDM would make the ultimate decision.
