Former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's 14th anniversary will be observed tomorrow on December 27 today.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers continue to arrive in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay tribute to their assassinated leader.
On Sunday, a newly married couple belonging to Rahim Yar Khan arrived at the tomb of Shaheed Bhutto and offered to pray for the rest of her soul.
On 27th December 2007, Benazir Bhutto gave a speech at a PPP rally held in Rawalpindi's Liaquat National Bagh.
On leaving in a bulletproof vehicle, she opened the car's escape hatch and stood up to wave to the surrounding crowds.
A man standing within two to three metres of the car fired three gunshots at her and detonated a suicide vest packed with ball bearings.
Bhutto was fatally injured; reports differ as to whether she was hit by bullets or by shrapnel from the explosion. Twenty-two others also died.
Bhutto was rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital but was clinically dead on arrival and attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
On the other hand, PPP central leadership has become more active following the current political scenario and former president Asif Ali Zardari has reached Islamabad.
The party sources said important political activities are expected during the stay of Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
