A citizen has moved the Supreme Court against Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi over an alleged obstruction in the anti-encroachment operation in Karachi.
Akhter Mehmood Naqvi has filed a contempt of court petition reading that Naqvi obstructed the anti-encroachment operation underway in Gulshan Iqbal, a posh area of the port city.
The petitioner requested the court to not only stop him from obstructing the operation but also disqualify him from the provincial seat that he won on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket.
The plaintiff alleged that Naqvi sat in a chair on a plot adjacent to Allah Din Park demanding the anti-encroachment officials to stop work and produce SC’s written order.
“By doing this, Naqvi committed obstruction in the judicial process,” said the petitioner, adding that Firdous Naqvi should not only be disqualified from any public office but his name should also be put on the exit control list.
