EU keen to enhance co-op with Sindh in renewable energy

European Union (EU) Ambassador in Pakistan Androulla Kaminara on Wednesday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and expressed the EU desire for enhanced cooperation in renewable energy sector.
“European Union wants to work with the Sindh province on renewable energy projects.”
During the meeting, Syed Murad Ali Shah briefed Ambassador Androulla Kaminara on various steps taken by his government for development of energy sector.
The CM said that the government is carrying out canal lining to provide water to agriculture land at tail ends. Better use of agricultural water would improve rural economy and eliminating poverty from rural areas.
About Thar Coal Project, Murad Ali Shah said that the province has the capacity to pull out the country from power crisis with the utilization Thar coal.
Thar coal reserves are enough to fulfill electricity needs of the country for centuries and currently 660-megawatt electricity is produced from Thar Coal plants.
The chief minister said that there is a lot of potential in the province and only utilization of wind energy resources could produce up to 50,000 MW electricity.
