A tragic incident took place in Lahore’s Safari Wildlife Park where lions reportedly killed a teenager who had been missing for two days.
Bilal was the resident of a village in the suburbs of Lahore who went missing on Monday.
Some of his belongings, including a shoe, were found in the lions' enclosure at the park on Wednesday, making the authorities believe he had been eaten by the carnivores.
The park administration said it is an unlikely situation as no one can come into the park by mistake as the gates are usually closed and opened for only those visitors who are on vehicles.
The authorities said the youngster from the nearby village might have scaled the fence and jumped into the park in order to cut the grass from there as a free fodder for his cattle.
On finding out about the tragedy, the aggrieved relatives staged a protest in front of Safari Park and forcibly locked its gates.
They claimed the victim didn’t come there by himself; someone must have thrown him into the park.
The Safari Park, which presents the scene of a mini-forest, is a beautiful place where people from Lahore and other parts of the country come for seeing birds and animals in an environment that is much spacious in comparison to the ordinary city zoos.
