Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed Maqbool Ahmad Block at King Edward Medical University (KEMU), Lahore.

Maqbool Ahmad Block has been established with the help of Dr Maqbool Ahmad, a graduate of King Edward Medical College, Class 1968 who provided all expenses incurred on its construction.

Maqbool Ahmad Block has been constructed under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Masud Gondal and Former Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan who was the Project Director of Maqbool Ahmad Block. The total cost of the project was Rs1.1 Billion.

Former Principals and Vice Chancellors Retired Professors Prof Khwaja Saadiq Husain, Prof Mahmood Ali Malik, Prof Latif Chaudhry, Prof M. H .Randhawa, Prof Khalil Rana, VC FJMU Prof Aamer Zaman Khan, Prof Asad Aslam Khan, Pro-VC Prof Ijaz Hussain, Registrar Dr Riasat Ali, Prof Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Prof Saqib Sohail, Prof Saira Afzal, members of Academic Council and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

The Chancellor of KEMU/ Governor of the Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar in his address to the participants said that he has inaugurated thousands of institutions in his life but today was the most proud day for him.

He paid tribute to Dr Maqbool Ahmad for this great gesture. He always say that the real success of human life is in the service of humanity and history has always kept alive those who served the humanity. The efforts of Dr Maqbool Ahmad can never be forgotten.

He further said that having millions and trillions of rupees is nothing. The real success is in the charity work and in the service of humanity. He appreciated the hard work and dedication with which doctors saved lives of patients during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

He appreciated that the Telemedicine Department of King Edward Medical University is continuously providing its services to the ailing humanity. He expressed his felicitation to the overseas Pakistanis who do not forget their homeland while living abroad.

Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masud Gondal said that today is a great example of merit and success. The best example of charity work is the contributions of our Chancellor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar who helped millions of needy people during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

He said that Maqbool Ahmad Block is an excellent example of Sadqa- e – Jaria. He paid thanks to Dr Maqbool Ahmad and congratulated Prof Asad Aslam Khan Project Director on the successful completion of this mega project. The generations and generation to come will be benefitted in Maqbool Ahmad Block of KEMU.

Prof Asad Aslam Khan briefed the guests about the designing, construction and cost of the project. He said that for designing and construction of Maqbool Ahmad Block, he visited multiple medical institutions of various countries. Former Principal, Prof Khwaja Saadiq Husain said that Dr Maqbool Ahmad is a blessing for humanity and I pray to Allah to grant him success in this world and in the hereafter. He has set a marvelous example of real success by establishing State of the Art Block. Shields and Souvenirs were presented to the distinguished guests.
