CM Maryam inaugurates Pakistan’s first e-taxi scheme 

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated Pakistan’s first e-taxi scheme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Maryam Nawaz said E-taxi scheme is a respectable employment scheme, adding that women in Punjab do not need to be afraid of anyone. 

She said e-taxi scheme will play a key role in securing employment for women. Every daughter of Punjab is safe, if anyone tries to harm them, let them know the consequences, Maryam Nawaz said. She said women in Punjab are working side by side with men. 

Green buses will be delivered to every tehsil of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz said. She said women are being provided employment opportunities in Punjab. She said e-taxi will generate a monthly income of Rs150,000 to Rs200,000, Maryam Nawaz said. She said trackless train project in Punjab will also be started soon. Maryam Nawaz said that a subsidy of Rs4 billion has been given in the e-taxi scheme. The Punjab government will pay 50 percent down payment for male drivers and 60 percent for women, Maryam Nawaz said.

E-taxi is an environment-friendly scheme, Chief Minister said. She said Ramadan bazaars converted into convenience markets forever. Maryam Nawaz said environmental pollution is being monitored on a daily basis in Punjab. 

In the first phase, 1100 e-vehicles will be provided in the e-taxi scheme. About 30 percent quota is reserved for women in the e-taxi scheme. The colour of the vehicle with a lady driver will be different for women in the e-taxi scheme. In the e-taxi scheme, the Punjab government will also pay the registration, fitness test and token tax fees of the vehicles. The dues of the e-taxi scheme will be paid in five-year easy installments. 

To ensure the safety of drivers and passengers, a pink button will be installed in every e-taxi, which will be linked to the Punjab Safe City Authority. The vehicles of the e-taxi scheme will be registered with InDrive and Yango. Fast charging points will be installed for charging vehicles at public places. In the e-taxi scheme facility of digital payments will also be provided.
