A South Korean Air Force F-16C fighter jet crashed into a mountainside in Yongsan-ri, Anjeong-myeon, Yeongju City, North Gyeongsang Province, around 7:29 pm on the 25th February.

The fighter aircraft was reportedly conducting night-time flight training at the time.

The pilot, one person, safely ejected and was confirmed unharmed. No civilian casualties or damage have been reported so far.

A fire erupted alongside the crash, causing a wildfire, but authorities stated the risk of the blaze spreading is low.

The Air Force has established a Flight Accident Response Headquarters, led by the Deputy Chief of Staff, to investigate the exact cause of the incident.
