Ridiculing the opposition parties for first taking a U-turn on giving resignations from assemblies en masse and then on moving a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday challenged these parties now not to change its mind on its planned long march towards Islamabad on March 23, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media, he said to the opposition, “Come to Islamabad on that date; neither before nor after.”

The minister further said that the opposition would get nothing out of its anti-government movement as it would be a pure wastage of time. “It will face only humiliation and nothing else,” he said in clear and categorical terms.

Commenting on one of the statements made by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman yesterday (Tuesday, January 25) in which he had said that the opposition would remove PM Imran in a jiffy, he advised Maulana to thank the media due to which the people were familiar with his and other opposition parties. “Otherwise, you and others in the opposition would be history,” he remarked.

He opined that the prime minister was fortunate that his opposition was not capable enough to oust him. “Not once have these parties succeeded in their attempts to block the passage of government-sponsored bills in the parliament,” he said.

Rasheed again dispelled the impression that the government and the country’s military establishment were not on the same page.
