Power struggle intensifies in PML-Q as Elahi-led members remove Ch Shujaat

The infighting between Pakistan Muslim League- Q intensifies as PML-Q-faction led by former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi removed President Shujaat Hussain and replaced him with Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain in a meeting that was dubbed illegal by the central party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During a so-called General Council meeting of the party, former federal minister Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have been elected unopposed Central and Punjab President of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).
While the General Secretary of PML (Q) registered in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tariq Bashir Cheema and Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain termed Wajahat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi's election illegal and unconstitutional.
PML-Q leaders Cheema and Salik also declared the general councils' meetings fake and so-called and clarified that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is the President of the party as per the law.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Elahi addressed the members after the party meeting and thanked the Central and Provincial General Councils who elect him unopposed President.
Addressing the councils' members, Elahi said the 10 elected MPAs of the PML-Q in the Punjab Assembly were lucky for him as he became speakership of the province.
Elahi said by the grace of Almighty Allah and the trust of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, he got the Chief Ministership and server the nation.
He said he completed the work for five years in just five and a half months and if it was found another year, the existence of the Nawaz League would not have been found in Punjab.

The former CM of Punjab said it was told to Imran Khan that only the people who had completed development work in their constituency were in favor of dissolving assemblies.
Talking about the achievements in his rules in Punjab, Elahi said he ran all old projects and made operational all institutions like Rescue 1122 successfully.
From the grade first to the fifth, his government made compulsory recitation and translation of the Holy Quran, Elahi said adding that his government had also taken revolutionary measures in the education and health sectors.
The newly elected President of PML-Q said Imran Khan is the most popular leader in the country while nothing comes to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif except begging.
He said there are PML-N members who used to say that thankfully the assembly broke up, otherwise their politics would have ended.
He said his party will go to the election with passion and enthusiasm and they will contest the next election side by side with PTI and Imran Khan because after Quaid-e-Azam, no honest leader like Imran Khan in the country.
He said they will now pressurize the government to hold elections before the holy month of Ramadan.
He also announced that he was going to appoint Bao Rizwan as PML-Q Punjab General
