Vanessa Hudgen's husband Cole Tucker reveals gender of baby no. 2

Cole Tucker has finally shared the detail fans have been waiting for, revealing the gender of the second child he and Vanessa Hudgens quietly welcomed two months ago. Speaking candidly on the Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast on January 13, the retired MLB player confirmed that their growing family now includes both a son and a daughter.

During the conversation, podcast host Rob Bradford asked Tucker directly whether he and Hudgens had welcomed a boy or a girl. Tucker responded with a smile, saying they had “one of each,” confirming that their newborn is a baby girl. The couple has chosen to keep key details private, declining to share the names of either their daughter or their 18-month-old son, and avoiding posting photos of the children publicly.

Adjusting to life as a parent of two, Tucker joked about the demands of fatherhood. “I’m in the fight,” he said, describing the hands-on reality of raising young children. Despite stepping away from professional baseball, he appears fully immersed in family life.

Tucker also shared anecdotes about his toddler son, expressing surprise at his early athletic tendencies. He revealed that the child swings and throws left-handed, something that caught him off guard. “My wife is super excited to be, like, the T-ball team mom, you know how that goes,” he said, adding proudly, “He hits the ball off the tee!”

According to Tucker, their son’s interests already extend beyond baseball. He noted that the toddler enjoys swinging golf clubs, shooting basketballs, and experimenting with musical instruments including drums, piano, and guitar. Reflecting on their parenting philosophy, Tucker explained, “My wife and I want to expose him to as much as we can, you know?” He continued, “We just want to show him everything and whatever he wants to do, we’ll support him.”

Tucker emphasized that there is no expectation for his son to follow in his athletic footsteps. “I don’t want [my son] to feel like he has any pressure to be a baseball player,” he said. “I don’t want him to feel, like, ‘[I] have to go to the big leagues [because] Dad did.’ That pressure and anxiety would suck, but if you want to, let’s go.”

Both Tucker and Hudgens understand the importance of encouragement, having faced skepticism early in their own careers. Tucker pointed out that they were fortunate to have parents who supported their ambitions when others doubted them. “I don’t want [my son] to feel like he has any pressure,” he reiterated, underlining the couple’s commitment to open-minded parenting.

Since retiring from Major League Baseball last year, Tucker has transitioned into media work and family life. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, and Los Angeles Angels before stepping away from the sport in 2024.

He is set to resume his role as an MLB Network Radio host on Sirius XM next April, coinciding with the start of the baseball season.

In the meantime, Tucker joked about maintaining his fitness as a stay-at-home dad. “I’m doing a lot of dad walks, a lot of up and down incline, you know, little it’s like a sled push,” he said. Laughing, he added, “I’m in great dad shape, you know. Yeah. So, a lot of hands and knees, you know. I feel like I’m doing like yoga adjacent-type things.”

The couple recently marked another milestone, celebrating their second wedding anniversary on December 2. Tucker and Hudgens began dating in 2020 after meeting virtually through Joe Jonas’ online meditation group. Hudgens had previously ended her long-term relationship with actor Austin Butler in 2019.

Hudgens, now 37, has also been reflecting on her past career. Earlier this month, she celebrated the 20th anniversary of High School Musical by sharing a nostalgic cafeteria photo with Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, and her former co-star Zac Efron. She captioned the post, “I cannot believe HSM turns 20 today. Thank you to everyone who’s been there since day one. We’ll always be in this together.”

With more than 77 million followers across social platforms, Hudgens continues to thrive as an influencer through partnerships with brands including Alltroo, Smash Kitchen, Virtue Labs, Airbnb, and Narwal Robot. Professionally, she wrapped filming last year on Quiet Storm, a 1969-set dramatic thriller, though updates on her role in The Black Kaiser have remained scarce.
