“We will not present the government to Imran Khan in a tray. His dream of making this country Sri Lanka will not be fulfilled,” said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz while talking to 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
“We have not come out of the courts yet. When we are free from the courts, we will think about something else,” she added.
To a question about an important responsibility being assigned to her in the party, she said: “Consultation is underway to strengthen and organise the party. When the responsibility is assigned, everyone will know.”
Maryam stressed, “A Suo Motu is needed on the issues of Farah Gogi and Tayyaba Gul. The decision of the foreign funding case should come. Just stop it! It has been eight years now.”
People question double standard of justice: Atta Tarar
On the other hand, Punjab Minister Attaullah Tarar said while addressing a press conference in Lahore that Hamza Shehbaz had been elected as Punjab chief minister with a clear majority.
“Imran Khan had asked his members to vote for PML-Q’s Pervaiz Elahi. He had issued instructions as the party chief. But when Chaudhry Shujaat issued similar instructions, the standard was changed,” he said.
“Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s letter is objected to; Imran Khan’s letter is considered reliable,” he remarked.
“People are raising questions about the double standard of justice,” he stated and added that former presidents of the Supreme Court Bar Association had also questioned why there was a double standard.
He added that a run-off election was held if 186 votes had not been obtained.
“It has been stated in the constitutional amendments that only the party chief can issue instructions. The role of the party chief was highlighted in the Nawaz Sharif case,” he pointed out.
“If the instructions of the party head are not followed, will the by-election be declared null and void?” he questioned.
“Seven votes were rejected in the election of the Senate chairman. In the election of the Senate chairman, it had been said that the ruling of the deputy speaker could not be challenged,” he added.
“Such an important matter cannot be resolved without a full-court bench. The constitutional experts also say that the full court will improve the case further,” he emphasised.
“Imran Khan does the politics of confrontation and abuses,” he deplored.
“We are trying our best to improve the condition of the people,” he claimed.
He also said that Farah Gogi was wanted in many cases, adding: “If Farah Gogi is brought back, it will be known how much corruption Imran Khan did.”
