Former PAEC chairman Dr Pervez Butt passes away at 84
Former chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Dr Pervez Butt, has passed away at the age of 84, according to a spokesperson for the commission.
The spokesperson said Dr Butt was one of the founding figures of Pakistan's strategic and nuclear programmes and played a pivotal role in the country's scientific and technological development.
According to the PAEC, Dr Pervez Butt served as Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission from 2001 to 2006. During his tenure, Pakistan's nuclear science and technology programme entered a new phase of development under his leadership.
The spokesperson described Dr Butt as a distinguished scientist, engineer, and national architect, saying Pakistan has lost one of its most eminent scientific minds.
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission paid tribute to Dr Butt's contributions, stating that his services to the nation, particularly in the fields of science, engineering, and nuclear technology, will always be remembered.
