Govt drops petrol bomb on pandemic-hit nation

The government on Friday increased petrol prices by Rs25.58 per litre after providing a brief relief to the people.
According to notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the new petrol price has touched Rs100.10 per litre. With the increase of Rs21.31 per litre, the new price of high speed diesel has reached Rs101.46 per litre. The price of kerosene oil has increased by Rs23.50 to Rs59.6 per litre. With the increase of Rs17.84 per litre, the new price of light diesel reached Rs55.98 per litre.
As per details, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) sent a summary to the government recommending an increase in the petroleum products, which the governed approved and issued a notification.
Opposition rejects hike in pol prices
Rejecting the hike in POL prices, PML-N senior leader Kh Asif said that government ruined the national economy. After the increase in POL prices, the inflation will also rise, he added. He urged the people to take to streets against this inefficient government.
Sindh Minister for Agriculture Ismail Rahoo slammed the federal governed over the increase in petrol prices. He said that oil mafia in Pakistan is stronger than the state. He said government dropped petrol bomb on the people already battling against the coronavirus. He urged the government to withdraw hike in POL prices.
