Zara Noor Abbas trolled for struggling with Punjabi language in live show
Renowned actress Zara Noor Abbas appeared on a Punjabi show where she playfully revealed that she only knows cursing words in Punjabi language which led her to receive severe backlash from the viewers.
The show was hosted by her mother Asma Abbas who was fluently speaking Punjabi whereas Zara was seen struggling to speak even a single sentence smoothly in the language.
During the discussion in the show, the actress revealed that she is married in Urdu speaking family that is also one of the reasons that she cannot have a proper conversation in the specific language.
While replying to the question, she was reluctant to speak Punjabi when she used to live with her Punjabi side of the family as well, or her marriage impacted her fluency, she added: “It was non-fluent before marriage as well.”
She further claimed that she only knows the curse words in the Punjabi language.
Her words and the accent put her under fire as she received hateful remarks from the audience.
A user wrote, “What is this punjabi people's complex about their own language?”
Another criticized her by saying “Yeh konsi fakhar ki bat hey ke apko apni mother tongue nahi at hey” (not knowing your mother tongue isn’t something to be proud of)
Another hateful comment reads, “Nothing to be proud of. Shame on you. You have spent all your life in Puniab and you can't speak Punjabi?? Aik to yeh baqwas hai, aur nai bhi hai to this only shows your complexes.”
Netizens showed displeasure that she has spent her entire life surrounded by Punjabi speaking people and can’t speak herself.
