Covid-19 cases increase to 57,705 with 30 more deaths in Pakistan

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 57,705 with the addition of 1,356 during the past 24 hours as the country continues to grapple with the pandemic.
According to the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre Tuesday morning, another 30 deaths were also recorded, meaning that the overall death toll has climbed to 1,197.
Meanwhile, 18,314 patients have fully recovered after contracting the virus while there are 38,194 active cases currently in the country.
The past day saw another 7,252 tests conducted throughout Pakistan, which increased the overall number to 490,908 after the process was started due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sindh has reported 22,934 confirmed cases so far while Punjab is second with 20,654 followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 8,080, Balochistan 3,468, Islamabad 1,728, Gilgit-Baltistan 630 and Azad Kashmir 211.
Unfortunately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to report most number of deaths as 408 people have so far died in the province.
More and more prominent personalities are being affected by the virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz and PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam contracted the virus whereas a former provincial minister Hussain Ahmed Kanju died during the past 48 hours.
The region-wise distribution of deaths for the rest of the country is:Sindh 369, Punjab 352, Balochistan 41, Islamabad 17, Gilgit-Baltistan eight and Azad Kashmir two.
