The federal cabinet on Friday approved the appointment of Muhammad Asim, a grade-20 officer at the Ministry of Information, as Associated Press of Pakistan MD, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Asim, who is currently posted as DG Cyber Wing at the ministry, will hold the post for three years. 

The ministry, in its summary sent to the cabinet, had suggested names of Shafqat Abbas and Ashiq Hussain Sheikh as well.
