Pakistan, ADB to jointly develop National Climate Strategy and youth-focused green projects

Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Director General Bruno Carrasco to discuss Pakistan’s climate resilience and environmental sustainability goals, with both sides agreeing to formulate a joint climate policy and a national strategy.

During the high-level meeting, both Pakistan and the ADB emphasised strengthening cooperation in climate finance, environmental protection, and sustainable development. A major focus was placed on supporting youth-led climate initiatives through incubation, mentorship, and financial backing to drive innovation in green technologies and projects.

The discussion also explored the promotion of globally competitive projects related to climate change and environmental preservation, while avenues for carbon credit-based partnerships were reviewed as a potential source of climate finance.

Dr. Malik stressed the need to shift from mere planning to practical implementation, ensuring that environmental strategies are translated into on-ground results. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the ADB at every stage of the process.

The meeting also concluded with an agreement to organise capacity-building workshops, knowledge-sharing projects, and policy-based lending programs to support climate goals. Both sides underscored the importance of launching public awareness campaigns to boost climate literacy and community engagement across the country.
